Jimmy Lewis Flying V 5’11” review

Jimmy Lewis Flying V 5’11” review

Performance

We have tested the Jimmy Lewis Flying V 5’11’’ with different wing and foil setups combinations. Speaking of the latter, we used the GoFoil IWA with 26.5’’ mast and the GoFoil GL180 with the 29.5’’ mast, both with the Kai Stabilizer. The conditions ranged from light wind, around 10 Knots, and flat water to strong wind (up to 35+ Knots) and medium sized waves. Here are our findings:

Stability and float: top notch for light and medium weight Wing/SUP foilers. Good to sufficient for the heavy weights depending on their skills.

Acceleration/Pop: excellent. The board accelerates fast and getting up on foil requires just a little push/power from the wing or a small wave/big bump. The step tail apparently improves the pop/lift and allow more room for pumping.

In flight: while flying the Jimmy Lewis Flying V 5’11’’ is pretty maneuverable and forgiving.  The aforementioned black lines on the pad help finding the correct stance while riding the board strapless.

Forgiveness in high speed touchdowns: excellent. The board is nose-sinking resilient and re-accelerates fast to flying speed after touch downs.

Pumping: pumping is extremely efficient on the Jimmy Lewis Flying V 5’11’’.

SUP Foiling bias: the Jimmy Lewis Flying V 5’11’’ is a great board for SUP Foiling.
