VAYU VVing review
Performance
We’ve tested two sizes of the VVing, 5.4 and 4.4, in wind ranging from 9 to 25+ Knots and waves from waist to shoulder high. Here are our findings.
Low End/Pumping: the VVing is a quite powerful wing with an impressive low end. The wing has grunt but delivers the power smoothly. The boom, the rigid frame and the stiff canopy allow for a super efficient pumping.
Top End/Stability: the stiff frame of the VVing and moderately tight canopy make it super stable and efficient even in gusty conditions with almost no fluttering in gusts.
Maneuverability: handling is excellent thanks to the limited wingspan and the boom.
Lift/Hangtime: Lift and hangtime are very good as the VVing keeps its shape when jumping.
Upwind performance: the rigid frame allows the VVing to point upwind easily.
Downwind/wave performance: the VVing is surprisingly good. While grabbing the front handle, the VVing doesn’t wander or flip.
Freestyle performance: the VVing is an excellent wing for freestyle. The boom is a great asset that provide almost infinite hand placement. Handling is further improved by the reduced wingspan.
Freeride performance: the VVing is easily one of the best wing for freeride. Again, the direct feeling provided by the the boom and the rigid frame with a tight canopy make the wing a solid freeride performer.
